Winkle SLC members set to compete at interprovincials
The 150-plus strong beach relay was won by Gary Albers, Neville Hazell and Keith Isaacs – one knows one is getting old when three ages total over 150 years.
WINKLESPRUIT Surf lifesaving Club is extremely proud of five of its competitive members, following their outstanding achievements at the KZN junior and senior lifesaving championships over the past month.
The following members have been selected to represent KZN Surf Lifesaving at interprovincials in April.
They are Terri-Lee Prato and Kelly Fell, who is straight out of nippers last year and already beating the reigning SA beach sprint champion at senior champs, who made the KZN junior women A team, as well as Gene Prato (senior men B team), Demi Mason (senior women B team) and Megan Barber (junior women B team). What a fantastic achievement for each one of them as well as the club.
This past weekend the senior members of the club attended KZN masters champs at Pirates and this was certainly a blast from the past. Winners of various events included Sabrina Ward, Gary Albers, Marcel Gerhard, Chris and Belinda Stange. The 150-plus strong beach relay was won by Gary Albers, Neville Hazell and Keith Isaacs – one knows one is getting old when three ages total over 150 years. At the time of going to the press, no reports of pulled fat was received but the club is sure some members are walking funny this week.
The next competition is SA champs during April so all members are to continue training hard. Members are advised to monitor the Whatsapp groups for details on training sessions.
Well done to all members performing duties over the past few weeks, and keep up the good work. The refreshment centre will be open on Friday night so pop in for a refreshment. See you on the beach.
