DURING the week some very exciting club championship games were played.

Once again it was noted that Winklespruit Bowling Club (WBC) has a strong future with some up and coming bowlers showing their worth by playing sublime bowls.

The novice sister pair of Charlotte Kohl and Lynette van Vuuren achieved a good win over their more experienced opponents, Jeanette Els and Elmarie Young. Novice player Brian Pasfield achieved a surprising win over veteran Alan Raubenheimer. In the women’s singles, Elmarie Young achieved a win over Charlotte Kohl. Let’s keep the bowls rolling and get the singles games completed before end July.

The monthly men’s 2-4-2 were played on Thursday, 25 June. Second session winners were Steve Evenwel and Jonty Denysen. It came as no surprise when Bill Rawlinson and partner Colin Coetzee walked away with the overall prize. The 100 board draw was won by Steve Evenwel.

On Saturday, 27 June, the car boot sale again exceeded all expectations. Thanks must go to the Lions Club of Kingsburgh for successfully managing the arrangements. Gratitude must also be shared between Lettie and Gert Nell for sponsoring the pancakes and Trish and Brian Farmer for organising the boerie rolls. Book your space now for next month’s car boot sale to be held on Saturday, 25 July. Call Sandy Elliot on 082-466-6480 or Gwen Ellis on 084-626-9593 for further information.

The monthly nominated mixed trips were played on Sunday, 28 June. Second session winners were Brian Pasfield with Bill and Linda Hobbs. Overall winners were the trio of Bill Rawlinson, Barry Bush and Charlotte Kohl. The 100 board draw was won by Freddy Hetterscheidt.

Good luck to all the bowlers who entered the Dan Draper tournament to be played from 6 to 10 July. Bring back the prizes.
