Host of personal bests for RWFL athletes
If you would like to learn to run, jog or walk in a safe and fun filled environment then feel free to come down to one of our sessions at Amanzimtoti High School grounds on Monday, Wednesday or Friday afternoon between 5pm and 6pm.
IT’S been a quiet period for Run Walk for Life (RWFL) Amanzimtoti members since the Comrades Marathon but this past weekend saw some members getting out and doing some fantastic things on the road.
Andelene Downs tackled the North Beach Park Run on Saturday where she recorded a personal best time of 39.59 for the 5km. This is a fantastic achievement for her as she has only been a member for six months and did her first Park Run four months ago in a time of 56 minutes.
That is a tremendous improvement in performance by anyone’s standards. Well done to Andelene.
On Sunday morning some members tackled the South Coast Striders Sardine Run half marathon. First home was road captain, Warren Gibson in a time of 1.40. First woman home was Elizabeth Toerien in a new personal best of 1.57. This is another brilliant achievement for her, as she shaved more than 16 minutes off her last 21,1km time.
Roxanne Legge was next back with 2.01, another personal best for her as well. Giselle Hall rounded out the women’s field not far back in 2.05. Wellington Maweza Msani was making sure that everyone else got home safely and finished with a good time of 2.16. Well done to all who ran.
