SEVERAL men’s competitions were played at Toti Bowling Club this weekend.

In the nominated trips, Greg McLeod, Doug Joubert and Mike Pitchers had a strong win against Alf Bingham, Adie Fuller and Terry Morgan signing the card after 14 ends.

In a much tighter game Ian Shearer, Ken Leech and Wessie van der Westhuizen took the game against Don Saunders, Bill Williams and Alan McGregor by one shot. Jeff van Belkum, Ben Venter and Andy Jones are the first team to go through to the semi-finals with a good win against Clive Frank, Mike Roberts and Vish Studinski.

In one of the men’s drawn fours semi-finals, the victors were Vince Marriott, Peter Barnes, Alf Bingham and Trevor Zulch who beat Les John, Clive Frank, Alan McGregor and Jeff van Belkum.

Because of only one green being available, the women’s monthly 2-4-2 competition was played as a fours format. Well done to winners Doreen Salmond, Yvonne Wright, Jackie Holdrick and Gaynor Snyman, and to runners-up Heather Brown, Eileen Ambler, Yvonne Hooper and Dot Liebetrau. Lys McDonald won the 100 board.

At TGIF Maggie Robertson won the 100 board; Bobby Stewart’s number came up in the attendance draw, but as she was not present, next week’s prize is worth R350. Hu Barber’s key number 71 unfortunately did not fit the lock, so next week’s lucky key is worth R2,000.

In the men’s monthly trips, the winners were Dallas Davis, Barry Bush and Brian Crause. Runners-up were Peter Labuschagne, Dave Kemp and Robbie Roberts; and in 3rd place were Clive Hambley, Coy Schrauwen and Barry Buckland.

Big Chicks will only go ahead on 15 November if there are two greens available. Check the notice board nearer the time. Dates to diarise are the women’s turkey day on Saturday, 12 December; men’s turkey day on Sunday, 13 December; men versus women on Wednesday, 16 December. Potato trips will commence in January, and the dates are still to be finalised.

The list is up on the board for those who would like to donate items for the Christmas hamper. This will be raffled towards the end of the year.

Birthday greetings are sent this week to Mark Brodie and Robert Green. The club wishes a speedy recovery to Ian Crouch after his hip operation and also to Peter Snyman after his knee operation, and as always get well soon to all members who are under the weather at this time.
