Finishing lets Toti Terriers down against Moor Cup leaders
Although the Toti Terriers did not get the result they hoped for they played very well and delivered a very proud performance.

ON Friday night, 14 July a motivated eThekwini Refractories Amanzimtoti first team rugby took on the Moor Cup log leaders, College Rovers at Hutchison Park.
What promised to be a big premier division game did not disappoint the spectators.
Although the Toti Terriers did not get the result they hoped for, they played very well and delivered a proud performance. Yes, one could argue that some poor defence allowed the Rovers team to race away with two quick tries, but the Toti boys stuck to their structures and remained composed for most of the game.
The forwards certainly dominated for the better part of 80 minutes, which saw the backline getting decent go forward ball. It was Toti’s centre, Ryno Els who went over for a well worked try that was converted by Wimpie Pretorius to leave the score at 12-7.
Toti certainly created a number of great opportunities, but the boys were not clinical in finishing off whereas the Rovers boys were better at finishing on the night. The final score was 31–13 in favour of Rovers, which the spectators would say was flattering considering the way Toti played. Toti’s other six points came from the boot of Wimpie Pretorius.
Man of the match awards went to young Brad Lange in the forwards, while the backline honours went to speedster Chad Fisher.
This weekend sees the last round of the Moor Cup where Toti will travel to a motivated Richards Bay team who have certainly not disappointed in their first year in the Premier division. Nevertheless, the eThekwini Refractories outfit will be looking for a big win in preparation for the 2017 Murray Cup.
Once again a big thank you to the club’s sponsors and supporters for making it all happen. If there was ever a trophy to be known as ‘the best crowd in Durban’ it would certainly be awarded to the local Hutchison Park supporters.
