Bowlers decimate Umzinto to offset rain-induced league standings drop
Jarryd has been the mainstay of the teams batting line up for the season thus far.

AFTER three frustrating weekends where Amanzimtoti Cricket Club (ACC) did not play a game due to rain preventing play, the first team’s lead at the top of the log has been cut from eight points to three.
Unfortunately for Toti, its nearest rival did not suffer the same fate as it did and were able to play their games.
As much as the country needs rain, the club hopes it will not rain on the following six Sundays in the areas where games are scheduled.
Last Sunday the team played a home fixture against Umzinto. The team arrived at the Oval, eager to put the frustrations of the past weeks to rest by enjoying a good game of cricket.
Toti won the toss and elected to bowl first. Adam and Jordan delivered the first eight overs with devastating effect. With Umzinto reeling at 19 for four, Jordan sustained an injury while bowling his fourth over.
Umzinto seized the opportunity to create a mini retaliation by taking the score to 79 before the next wicket fell. Toti took a further two wickets at 86 and 88 runs. Another little partnership took Umzinto’s score to 110 and there it remained for the loss of their last three wickets. Adam fired in eight overs of hostile, quick deliveries at a cost of 27 runs for five wickets. Bradley was back to his best, claiming two wickets for 23 off eight overs. Jordan bowled 3.4 overs for four runs with one wicket. Dylan only got one over before they ran out of batsmen. The Umzinto batter had no idea how to deal with Dylan’s over of spin and was out on the last ball of a maiden over.
Jarryd has been the mainstay of the team’s batting line-up for the season thus far. Therefore it was a shock to the team to see him bowled in the third ball of the first over without a run on the board. James joined Wesley and they settled in to take the score to 70, before James was caught for 26 runs. Jordan and Wesley then delivered the last rites to put Umzinto out of their misery in the 21st over. Wesley compiled 65 chanceless runs off 46 balls.
Jordan, with all his aches and pains, managed 19 off 23 balls.
A clinical performance was required and that was what was delivered, with a bonus point.
The team wishes Justin Jones a speed recovery from his operation and hopes to see a somewhat lighter Jonesy back on the park soon.
