Bowlers bowl impossible shots at Winklespruit Bowling Club

Club members and visitors are urged to bring a water beaker, cup or bottle for their own use during play.

A LOT of organising was done by Winklespruit Bowling Club’s competition secretary in getting three sponsored monthly competitions out on to the greens.

Members enjoyed some wonderful bowls that were well supported by locals.

Despite the heat it was a wonderful morning at the women’s twinkle trips. A few close games were played and some brilliant shots bowled. Thank you for the eats and the members who helped in the kitchen.

Overall winners were Tokkie de Kock, Amanda Ninow and Cathy Bardenhorst. The second session winners were Estelle van der Merwe and Bessie Vergottini and the 100 board winner was Norma Raath.

In the men’s Victory Kwik Spar Tops trips scores were very close in a number of games during the first session and a few games went down to the last end. In general, considering the hot conditions, a good standard of bowls were played throughout the morning.

Thanks to Victory Kwik Spar Tops for its sponsorship. A special thanks to Wilma Richter and Bessie Vergottini who worked hard in the kitchen preparing sandwiches and refreshments for the players.

Overall winners were Dave Kemp, Rob Stewart and Innocent Ndlovu. Second session winners were Cleve Hein, George Glaves and Fred Welch and the 100 board was won by André Gelderblom.

Clearwater Spur Steak Ranch mixed 2x4x2 was played on Saturday morning, 13 March, and the players had an enjoyable morning of bowls. Thanks to Clearwater Spur Steak Ranch for its support and sponsorship.

Overall winners were Hans and Linda de Waal. Second session winners were Brian Hollis and Maureen Griffin and the 100 board winner was Norma Raath.

The draw for the men and women’s club competitions are on the notice board. Due to the men’s competition secretary being on leave, members who have entered are requested to arrange with their opponent or opponents to play the game. Pay entry fees at the bar prior to play. The normal carding process will resume when the competition secretary is back.

Club members and visitors are urged to bring a water beaker, cup or bottle for their own use during play. This is to ensure personal safety and maintain compliance with the club’s Covid-19 procedures.
