Winklespruit Bowling Club records good results in PN bowls league
The teams were very competitive and a good standard of bowls was on display throughout the mornings play.

Winklespruit Bowling Club’s (WBC) Port Natal bowls league teams had a productive day in the latest round of fixtures.
Although all the teams played away, the men’s and women’s teams won.
The men’s Clearwater Spur 2-4-2 was played last week and a full green of teams competed against each other. The teams were very competitive and a good standard of bowls was on display throughout the mornings play.
Thanks to Shirley de Wee and Elmarie Young for preparing sandwiches and refreshments for the players. Also to Norma Raath for ensuring the bar was well stocked. Barrie de Wee ensured the bowls morning ran smoothly.

Winners were Bryon Hollis and Phil Whitton, second session winners were Basil Ananiadis and Freddy Hetterscheidt. The 100 board was won by Keith Holmes.
Members who organise their own club competition games are urged to record the results in the South Coast SUN’s news notebook which is in the basket next to the bar. Write down your full names, competition name and result.
In the women’s nominated trips, Estelle van der Merwe, Margaret van Belkum and Shirley de Wee beat Lulu Bingham, Elmarie Young and Lorna Sourgen.
In the drawn mixed 2-4-2 pairs, Keith Holmes and Sheila Court beat Rob Hilton and Sylveigh Ananiadis.
Wednesday, 9 June, sees the Twinkle Victory Kwik Spar and Tops women’s trips take place. The list is on the board, registration at 8.30am for 9am.
The men’s Victory Spar and Tops trips will be contested on Thursday, 10 June, registration at 8.30am for 9am.
Members who recently attended the markers course held by Barry Hilton should note that the final session of the course titled measuring skills will be conducted on Sunday, 6 June at 8.30am for 9am. Wear flat soled shoes as a considerable amount of time will be spent on the green. A bring and braai will be held after completion. The braai fires will be supplied by the club.
WBC will host a fun day with local moth members on Saturday, 19 June. Details are on the notice board.
Social bowls every Wednesday and Friday, tabs in at 2pm for 2.30pm.
The members draw was conducted on Friday, 28 May, and Hans Nel’s number was drawn, but he was not present so the prize will be carried over to the next draw.
All members and visitors who enter the club premises are urged to comply with Covid-19 restrictions.
