Don’t miss out on Amanzimtoti Bowling Club’s burgers and bowls evening

The much anticipated burgers and bowls social evening returns to Amanzimtoti Bowling Club.

SPRING is always a quiet season for bowls because clubs take advantage of the spring rains to refurbish their greens.

However, there are still plenty of competitions in the district and Amanzimtoti Bowling Club (ABC) members have been out playing in various tournaments hosted at other clubs.

Some of the club’s women team members enjoyed the Umhlali 4’s tournament at the weekend and last week the team of Greg McLeod, Adie Fuller, Alec Nel and Phil Whitton played in the Scottburgh Hypersure 4’s in the Hibiscus district and came fourth.

Apart from competitions, the club remains busy with members enjoying social bowls regularly on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and the regular circuit training led by Susan Nel.

At TGIF the key draw was a ‘must win’, and it took five draws before a lucky ticket holder managed to find the right key. Congratulations to the winner and the pot will now return to R1 000 with 40 keys to choose from next week.

The 100 board was won by Fred Welch, but Brenda Ross was not present to win the attendance draw, so that will go up to R550.

The Fury multi-franchise mixed 4s takes place on Sunday, November 21. Burgers and bowls will also return on Thursday, December 2, at 17:30, for bowlers and non-bowlers alike after a very long absence due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Contact the club on 031 903 3857 if you are interested in playing, or just arrive at the club by 17:15 on the day wearing flat soled shoes or sandals.

Birthday greetings go to Lesley Levy, Carmen Maritz, Talla Stephens-Viviers and Debra Gueffroy.
