Doonside bodybuilder is dedicated to the craft

Barry Austin works out at his home gym and has been raking up awards.

VETERAN bodybuilder, Barry Austin, of Doonside is giving men half his age a run for their money as he continues to rake in awards at the competitions he enters.

Barry recently took part in the IBFF Development Novice Bodybuilding Show which was held in Westville where he did well. He was the oldest entrant to compete in three lineups, the Masters over 40 Bodybuilding, Masters over 40 Men’s Physique, and Masters over 40 Boardwalk: Shorts Division. He placed first in men’s physique and bodybuilding and came second in the boardwalk division.

His wife, Liezl-Meri Volschenk Austin, said Barry trains at home in his homemade gym.

“He is a hard worker and has been dedicated to bodybuilding since he was 17,” she said.
