The event, hosted by the Scottburgh Athletic Club, saw participants choose between the 21.1km half-marathon or the 10km race. AAC had 55 members take part, with five participating in their first 21.1km.

According to club captain Warren Gibson, the race and route were awesome and well organised. He added that weather conditions were very hot, but there were enough water points along the route.
The club won the prize for the most athletes entered. The club’s Liesl Fourie said, “We also had two members on the podium. Lennord Beets was the first in his age group in the 21.1km, and Magnanimous Makhanya took third position in the 10km.”

The club congratulates all members who participated and thanks them for making Toti proud.
According to a statement released by the Scottburgh Athletic Club, 545 athletes participated. “It was a huge success, despite the extreme heat. Notable entrants were the legendary Blanche Moila, who made history in 1984 when she became the first black female athlete to be awarded Springbok colours. She is still running strong and continues to inspire, mentor and coach. Another notable entrant was SA elite athlete Lisa Collett,” it read.
