Possible traffic disruptions as runners take on Galleria Mall Challenge

Motorists are urged to exercise patience on Sunday, April 7, between 06:00 and 10:00, as athletes run the Galleria Mall Challenge in Amanzimtoti.

AMANZIMTOTI Athletic Club (AAC) alerts residents of Amanzimtoti of potential traffic disruptions and noise during the Galleria Mall Challenge on April 7.

Event convener and member of AAC, Lynette Botha, said any inconvenience and disruption should be limited to the hours between 06:00 and 10:00.

“While there aren’t any full road closures, metro police are on hand to direct traffic. AAC marshals will ensure the safety of all runners. Drivers are asked to please be vigilant when driving in the area on Sunday,” she said.

Roads that are affected include Arbour Road, Moss Kolnik, Blaze Way, Umdoni Road, Bowen Road, Bernadotte Road, which becomes Lewis Drive, Khoto Makhanya Road, Isundu Drive, Hutchison Road, Riverside Road that becomes Reed Road, School Road, Queen’s Terrace, Boundry Lane, Rockview Road, Andrew Zondo Road, Linscott Road, Hudd Road, Dickens Road, Prince Street, Ijuba Road, Shepstone Road, Marshall Road and McGowan Place.

AAC has also ensured that there are two sweeper trucks and clean-up crews to ensure that all litter will be removed along the route to avoid any litter concerns and any impact on the environment.

Late entries are still available. Registration is at Galleria Mall (opposite Edgars, near the banking hall) on Saturday, April 6, between 10:00 and 16:00, and Sunday, April 7, between 05:00 and 08:00.
