Painting raises funds for Operation Bobbi Bear

The painting, which depicted a boy aiding a seagull with a broken wing, raised R2 400 for the human rights organisation.

THROUGH a painting raffle that was recently held, R2 400 was raised in support of Operation Bobbi Bear’s cause.

Amanzimtoti resident Francesca Rebuzzi’s painting, which depicted a boy aiding a seagull with a broken wing, was symbolic to those at Bobbi Bear.

Eureka Olivier, director of the human rights organisation, said, “The painting, named Speranza, which is Italian for hope, embodies the essence of our organisation. We rely on hope to keep our doors open, as we don’t receive any guaranteed funding or food.”

Francesca, who has been painting for over 50 years, said the organisation and its children have always had a soft spot in her heart, so she always tries to help out where she can.

Olivier extended a heartfelt thanks to Francesca for her fundraising efforts, as well as St Anton’s body corporate and the community for their generous donations. The winner of the raffle was Deon Gouws.
