Among those contributing towards the event’s success was Amanzimtoti-based kickboxing instructors, Sensei Tobias Esterhuizen, head instructor of Blitz Martial Arts and KZN Kickboxing Association Exco Health and Safety Officer, and Sensei Seema Esterhuizen, President of the KZN Kickboxing Association. The pair served as referees, demonstrating their continued commitment to the development and growth of kickboxing.
Seema said that a special family touch was added to the occasion when her and Tobias’ children, Sensei Acelia Esterhuizen, Head Instructor of Kamikaze Fight Academy, and JT Esterhuizen, stepped onto the mats to compete in their respective categories of point fighting and light contact, and emerged victorious.
“As parents, there is no greater joy than watching your children embrace the values of discipline, respect, perseverance and sportsmanship that martial arts instil. Seeing them work hard, face their opponents with courage and achieve success is a truly special and proud moment. It is even more rewarding to see the next generation stepping into leadership roles, following their passion and inspiring other young athletes through their own martial arts journeys,” said Seema.
