A crown fit for a South African beauty
A new crown has been unveiled for the 2014 Miss SA pageant.

THE unique beauty of South Africa will be portrayed at the Miss South Africa competition next week with a new-look crown for the new-look pageant.
Sun International, licence holder of Miss SA, decided a new crown was needed for the event and Jack Friedman Jewellers (JFJ) was commissioned to create the headpiece.
Along with pageant designer, Malcolm Kluk, JFJ took inspiration from the natural beauty of indigenous South African flowers and traditional patterns to create the new crown, named Palesa after the Sotho word for ‘flower’. It was made of platinum supplied by Anglo American Platinum, one of the rarest elements on Earth and synonymous with South Africa, which accounts for 80% of world platinum production.
Vying for the new crown and title of Miss SA at the event finale on Sunday, 30 March at the Sun City Superbowl are Abigail de Jager from Mpumalanga, Anzél Stofberg, Jade Hubner and Mishka Patel from Western Cape, Caylene Marais, Tidimalo Sehlakorom and Tshegofatso Monggae from Gauteng, Dipalesa Mbola and Rolene Strauss from Free State, Julia Petersen from KwaZulu-Natal, Matlala Mokoko from Limpopo and Ziphozakhe Zokufa from Eastern Cape.
The Sun International pageant, sponsored by Cell C, airs live on Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161) from 5.30pm. Visit www.misssa.co.za for information.
