Peter courts children at Hilton festival

Festival is an opportunity for performing artists to showcase their work.

Toti resident and award-winning actor and theatre director, Peter Court is gearing up for some madness at the Hilton Arts Festival at the beautiful grounds of Hilton College from 19 to 21 September.

He has just performed in the hugely successful run of KickstArt’s Sweeney Todd that performed to full houses nightly at Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre.

The festival is a wonderful opportunity for local and national performing artists to showcase their work.

This year festival director, Sue Clarence asked Peter and his theatre company, Creative Madness to cater to the needs of children attending the festival. He will be involved in a number of productions at the crème-de-la-crème arts festival, with a few shows for the young-at-heart.

He will also do various workshops over the three days. Under the heading Theatre for the young at heart, there are two categories to choose from: Once Upon a Time, for young children; and Tales of Terror, aimed at 11 to 15-year-olds, plus numerous age-specific acting workshops.

“There have always been productions for under 6 and over 16,” said Peter. “But this year we have created specially tailored productions for three to six-year-olds, seven to 10-year-olds, 11 to 15-year-olds and general family entertainment, along with Creative Madness workshops, teaching everything we do, from mask-making to improvisation and puppet construction.

It’s going to be a bumper year for children.” For more information on the festival, visit www.hiltonfestival.co.za
