It’s tool time at retirement village craft market
There'll be lovely home-made, hand-crafted wares on sale, and your handyman can enhance his tool collection at very reasonable prices.
THE Umdoni Retirement Village holds its craft market again on Saturday, 2 December, and the main feature this year will be a table for second-hand tools.
This is a great way to get your man to come along to a craft market.
There’ll be lovely home-made, hand-crafted wares on sale, and your handyman can enhance his tool collection at reasonable prices.
So often when one retires, men especially are initially reluctant to ‘give up’ their much loved tools, and of course, some are needed to continue a hobby. But there comes a time when it’s just not practical to have a grinder, circular saw, drill with a variety of drill bits, hammers, planes, screw-drivers. It takes some persuading, but there are pensioners who realise they’d be best off with a few rand in their pockets rather than a cupboard full of unused tools. So, once a year, these go on sale, and there are bargains galore for the handy-man in suburbia.
So, women, while you are browsing around for Christmas presents and looking at toys, bags, jewellery, pottery, mince pies, pickles and the like, your man can enjoy himself poring over the tool table.
You can have breakfast, or tea/coffee and cakes. Trade starts at 8am. To get the best bargain, get there early. The Umdoni Christmas market is in the hall at Umdoni Retirement Village, Pennington.
To make enquiries for tables, phone Heather on 076-541-8610 – there are only a few tables left.
Collins and Barrington will have their display on the stage, and Selvie Pillay’s clothing will be on display in the foyer. There’ll also be shoes, underwear, towels and bric-a-brac.
