SUNDAY, 7 APRIL: Amanzimtoti’s partially sighted and blind bowlers are urged to attend the Visually Impaired Bowlers Association’s weekly bowling afternoon at Berea Bowling Club in Durban every Sunday from 1pm to 4pm. Blind and partially sighted people who are prepared to join this association can look forward to an afternoon of fun and fellowship playing bowls. SUNDAY, 7 APRIL: Toti Ramblers hike through Burman Bush Nature Reserve in Morningside. It is a shady walk. The reserve is fairly small at about 50 hectares and has three trails, the Pithi (500m), Hadedah (1km) and Forest Olive (2km). A viewing platform at the outer walk’s northern extremity provides sweeping views of Umgeni River from Connaught bridge to Blue Lagoon, The reserve has Durban’s largest population of blue duiker, as well as grey duiker, mongoose, porcupines, vervet monkeys and a wide variety of birdlife. Field rangers will accompany the hikers. All are welcome. There is no entrance fee. Don’t forget your chair for the picnic afterwards. Meet at Lords and Legends parking area at 7.15am to sort out transport. If new to the area, meet at Lords and Legends parking and travel in convoy to the reserve. An indemnity form must be completed if not already done and your ID number is required as well. Directions: On Umgeni Road from the N2, with Makro on your right, you will notice St Mathias Road on your right. KINGSBURGH Lions Club hosts its next health testing session on Saturday, 8 September.
Every second Saturday of the month from 10.30am to 12.30pm, the Kingsburgh Lions Club hosts free blood pressure and diabetes testing at the entrance to Pick ’n Pay Arbour Crossing.
