Don’t forget tomorrow is Slipper Day 2022!

Reach For A Dream encourages children to use the power of their dreams to fight life-threatening illnesses and make these dreams come true.

Tomorrow, Friday 6 May 2022, is Reach For A Dream’s Slipper Day 2022! Reach For A Dream would appreciate all the support they could get to raise awareness for their biggest annual fundraiser of the year.

Did you know dreams can come true? Sweet and loving dreamer, Kapano from East London, received her beautiful bicycle thanks to YOUR support.  Let’s stand together and support #slipperday2022 and make more dreams come true! To watch the video of Kapano receiving her bicycle, click here.

We encourage South Africa to stand together and show their support on Slipper Day, Friday, 6 May 2022. Slipper Day Supporter Stickers will be available for R20 each in-store at all retail partners: Wimpy, Dis-Chem Pharmacies, Pick n Pay, TOYZONE and Baby City. Reach For A Dream also have a funky range of slippers available to purchase – https://reachforadream.org.za/store/.  Go on, do your bit, and help fulfil even more dreams!

Stand together and show your support on Slipper Day, Friday, 6 May 2022For 34 years, South Africa’s best NGO has fulfilled children’s dreams fighting life-threatening illnesses. These little dreamers’ childhoods are marred with endless doctors’ visits, lengthy hospital stays and often painful treatments – which is why the foundation remains committed to inspiring hope in these children and their families’ lives.

The Reach For A Dream Foundation’s inception was inspired by an article by the Make–A–Wish Foundation, based in America. Past Randburg Rotary Club President, Owen Parnell was struck by the opportunity to establish a similar venture in South Africa. On 7 July 1988, the Organisation made its very first dream come true. And so the journey of dream fulfilment began. The first dreamer, little J C Steinman, was treated to a wonderful birthday celebration with rides on a pony and a motorcycle. Being occasionally named the Reach For A Dream Foundation in 1991, the organisation deemed its core purpose as “fulfilling the dreams of children of any race, colour and creed between the ages of 3 and 18 faced with a life-threatening illness”.

Reach For A Dream has previously been supported by industry giants Wimpy, Dis-Chem Pharmacies and Pick ‘n Pay for its largest annual fundraiser. With the onboarding of two new partners this year, TOYZONE and Baby City, the foundation intends to reach more South Africans. This fun initiative is geared to every single South African, any age and in any industry, from schools and corporates to individuals.

Last year, over R6 million was generated through your support, and all funds were used to fulfil the dreams of little dreamers across South Africa. With your help, Reach For A Dream plan to fulfil even more dreams and reach a target of R8 million this year.

Don’t forget to wear your slippers and stickers and walk into any Wimpy store countrywide to claim your FREE Wimpy Coffee.
