THE rain did little to deter many vintage vehicle enthusiasts and proud car owners for the sophomore edition of Cars by the River, hosted by the Lions Club of Amanzimtoti on September 6.

The event serves as a fundraiser for the non-profit organisation, while also bringing to Amanzimtoti petrol heads from across the province, from car clubs to bikers, vintage collectors and motorsports racers. Like last year, it included a craft and artisans flea market in addition to a children’s zone, a beer garden, an art show and live music.

President of the club, Chris Stange, said although the weather definitely impacted the event, the Lions made the best of a bad situation. “We thank the car clubs and local support as much-needed money was raised for our community outreach,” said Stange.
