MYRTLE SMITH: “As the children get older they seem to get bored more easily. They mostly hang around with friends but this boredom could lead to them mixing with the wrong crowds.”

COURIER asked the community about life at home during school holidays and how it is having the children around all day.

SANDILE MPUQA: “It is very difficult because they are young and they spend all my money. But what matters is that they are happy.”

LINDIWE MZILENI: “These children are trouble. They want everything they see, which can be difficult because of the VAT increase. As I am working I sometimes have to take them with.”

MPHO SIBANDE: “It is much louder because the children want to stay up late and watch television and play at night because they don’t have to go to school the next day.”
