Graduates honoured at Region 9 Development Centre

There were 418 graduates who were honoured on the day.

LA ROCHELLE – Region9 Development Centre objectives are founded on the principle of moving poor people and communities from a state of dependency on welfare to independency and eventually self-reliance through skills development that empowers them to realize their potential and aspirations.

As part of its mandate, Region 9 Development Centre hosted a Certificate Awarding Ceremony on November 12, at Region F, Eureka House. The guests, stakeholders and beneficiaries were all welcomed by Region 9 Development Centre Manager Ms Neo Maphanga, and the function was honoured by Social Department Senior Officials in the Gauteng Province; Regional Manager, Mr Difose Lekhalanyane, accompanied by Community Development Practitioners (CDP), Mr Sithelo Mfuthe and Ms Nomfundo Mnisi. The beneficiaries also received a word of encouragement from successful local business women Ms Phola Katisi and Joy Moloi.

The overall total Beneficiaries graduated; Life Skills – 252, Graphic Designer – five, Construction – five, Cabinet Making – 10, Upholstery – eight, Boiler Making – two, Motor Mechanic – three, Welding – 11 and Computer – 122 (Total Graduates 418).

The beneficiaries gave a positive response about their experience in the various courses that they have attended and expressed their gratitude to Region 9 Development Centre for the opportunity that they were given.

Region 9 Development Centre remains committed to organize more Skills Training Programmes for the beneficiaries and maintain its status as the house of hope in the community.
