Man killed in armed robbery

EMS tried to resuscitate the man in vain.

ROBERTSHAM – An elderly man was shot and killed in Giles Street, Robertsham after he was robbed R85 000 cash on Friday November 29.

It is said that he went to the bank in the South of Johannesburg and cashed a R85 000 cheque which he got from his business partner. On his way back to his business about four men in a white Nissan double cab ambushed him when he was about to enter his business premises.

According to other business people in the area, about three or four shots were fired and he died on the scene.

It is suspected that he was followed from the bank.

This information was given by the police at the scene.
