Nkosinathi Nkabinde, Communication Specialist, City of Johannesburg Group Communication & Tourism Department released the official statement:
We can confirm that a one-day-old baby boy was found left alone in one of the toilets at Rosettenville Clinic today (Tuesday December 3). The baby was found by one of the patient who came to the clinic and alerted the staff.
It seems that the mother of the baby came to the clinic and went straight to the toilet and left the baby inside the toilet on the floor and then
disappeared.
The baby was examined by a doctor at the clinic and looked to be fine. However he was taken to South Rand Hospital for further check-ups. The police were called and the case was opened for further investigation.
We also want to urge the community members who might have information to assist the police with investigation. Anyone with information can liaise with Moffatview Police Station 011 405 1500.
