Vehicle overturns in Glenvista
A vehicle lay on its side after it tipped over on a tricky Glenvista road curve.
GLENVISTA – There was a major traffic back-up on Sneeuberg Road in Glenvista on May 5, resulting from an old Volkswagen Caravelle that tipped over on the road.
The Volkswagen combi lay on the driver’s side, all wheels in the air in a position that made it extremely difficult for the driver to exit the toppled vehicle. The vehicle was slightly damaged on one side.
One of the passengers was seen sitting on the edge of a home on Sneeuberg Road, watching as another man attempted to remove something from the combi. Passers-by said none of the men appeared to have sustained injuries.
Mondeor SAPS Communication Officer Sibongile Elizabeth Mnguni said that they were not called to the scene, and could not provide information as to how many passengers were in the vehicle and if anyone sustained injuries.
The reasons behind the vehicle toppling over are also undetermined. JMPD could not confirm receiving a report on the incident or provide information. They said they would check if a report was received.
Caxton South Distribution Manager Freddy Sephaka witnessed the two men attempting to recover items from the overturned vehicle. He said that a probable cause for the accident could have been that the driver miscalculated the bend on Sneeuberg Road, or that the driver could have been speeding and failed to control the vehicle when approaching the bend.
