JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – On Tuesday September 2 at about 17:30 Warrant Officer Nkabinde and Constable Malatji from Moffatview SAPS were doing patrols when they spotted a three men in a green Chevy Spark parked at 8th street, La Rochelle.
The officers made and U-turn and approached the car. A man seated in the front tried to run away, but the officers managed to catch him.
They searched him and found a Norinco 9mm loaded weapon with five rounds. The police also found evidence that proved the car registration of the Chevrolet the suspects were driving to be fake.
The suspects were in possession of 37 dagga sachets, with a street value of R500, and the firearm had a filed-off serial number.
With residents of La Rochelle constantly complaining about how fast the suburb is deteriorating, arrests like these could bring hope to many.
A number of residents who are afraid to be named if they complain about La Rochelle, because they live a few minutes away from drug dealers in the area, are worrying because they cannot sell their property since its value dropped significantly.
The COURIER would also like to thank the police for these random patrols.
