GLENVISTA – The home owners and domestic were in the house when the suspects broke the front gate with a crowbar and proceeded to get in at the back door. “We were in the study and didn’t hear anything,” they said. Their domestic was in the bathroom and the dog began to bark. “I went to have a look and saw three men walking up the passage. My initial thought was, ‘What are these men doing in our house?’”
The woman ran back into the study where her husband was and they tried to keep the study door closed but the men gained entry, pushing the woman and hitting the man over the head. The man thought he’d pretend he was unconscious so that he could run and press the alarm when the suspects left the study. “They shouted at us, ‘Where’s the jewellery and saw a ring on my finger and pulled it off. I begged them not to take it as it is very sentimental to me but they couldn’t have cared less,” said the woman.
The man managed to get to the alarm but it was too late as the suspects were fleeing the scene.
“I phoned our security company Chubb, who arrived speedily with Mondeor SAPS not long after,” he said
The suspects took jewellery, three flat screen TV’s, a Persian rug, lap tops and ipads as well as cell phones and a play station. They also took a white Polo, registration ZBN 304GP.
According to a Glenvista Community Forum member, this is the third such robbery in the area in the last three days.
