Where are the jobs promised to the youth?

Youth urged to demand jobs that were promised by ANC and DA

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – The National Freedom Party Youth Movement (NFPYM) would like to express its concern at the mischievous tactics used by the ANC and the DA during the May 2014 General Elections when both these political parties promised young people heaven and earth.

“As the NFPYM we are gravely concerned and demand to know what is the latest development regarding 'massive jobs' and job opportunities that were promised by both the ANC and DA to young people during the election time?

“Both these organisations promised to create six million sustainable jobs each; meaning by 2019, 12 million jobs would have been created in the country.

“You don't need to be a rocket scientist to understand that if that was indeed a grand plan and not a political ploy or electioneering, at least by now almost a million jobs would have been created so that they can achieve the 12 million jobs in five years,” NFPYM secretary-general Busi Tshabalala said.

Tshabalala challenged the two organisations to provide the country with proof and statistics showing how many jobs they have created; where, which province and how many people were now being employed.

“As young people, we can no longer accept that each time election comes, promises are made and none are delivered upon. For far too long the youth of this country has been turned into nothing else but voters, and this should come to an end. As we head towards the 2016 Local Government Elections, similar promises will be made and nothing after the elections.”

Tshabalala urged young people to demand the jobs that were promised by both the ANC and the DA, failing which, they should hold the political organisations accountable for massive joblessness, poverty and underdevelopment.
