Mimmos Bassonia robbed

On Friday October 24, at about 11:00, Mimmos in Comaro View Shopping Centre, Bassonia, was robbed.

BASSONIA – Prior to the robbery a man approached a staff member of Mimmos, enquiring about a job. He was told a CV was required and he said he’d return later with it.

Just before 11:00 the same man and one other entered Mimmos. One was armed and he ordered a staff member to take him to the safe.  Cash was taken and the two suspects left. No one was harmed in the incident.

Owners of the centre were asked for comment. “The owners, managers and tenants of the Comaro View Shopping Centre are continuously evaluating the measures in place to combat crime in our community generally.

“Representatives of the Mondeor SAPS, Bassonia and Glenvista Community Forum as well as local security companies will be meeting  with ourselves next week to discuss recent events, and formulate a strategy to further safeguard the wellbeing of people who visit and work at the shopping centre.  We welcome all community based initiatives in this regard.

“Furthermore, we will be boosting the presence of security guards as well as upgrading the lighting around the centre at night.”
