Green Business Platform meeting
On Friday February 6 at 07:30 for 08:00 the Green Business Platform meeting will be held at Thaba Eco Hotel, Impala Road, Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve.
KLIPRIVIER – Guest speaker Chris Yelland, won the South African National Energy Association (SANEA) Journalism Award in 2009 for “special efforts within the field of journalism to promote greater understanding of energy and its role in sustaining human endeavours”.
He will discuss the background to the current problems in South Africa and the power outlook in the next five years. Issues such as the cost and time overruns at Medupi and Kusile will be discussed, the resulting capacity shortages and the impact this has had on maintenance of Eskom’s current generation fleet. The issues of the distribution system maintenance backlog will also be covered. Short, medium and long term solutions will be suggested, together with mitigation strategies for industrial, commercial and domestic electricity customers.
