Street dog drinks from drain leak

Residents said they have been complaining about the drain for over a year now.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – When the COURIER was invited to see a blocked drain that has been leaking since early 2014, they found that the stinky drain was not a hazard to people but also a helpless dog.

The drain in Garden Street in Turffontein flows downstream into a hole that was allegedly dug and left to sink the leaking sewage.

The most shocking incident at the scene was the helpless dog that was covered in blood all over its mouth. Even though that was strange, some of the people watching couldn’t care less about the animal drinking the dirty water.

Elia, who resides in Turffontein, phoned the COURIER to come and witness this health hazard.

An update from SPCA and the Council will follow.
