UPDATE: Alberton N12 East/R59 taxi accident – 16 injured

No-one sustained any serious injury.

ALBERTON: Sixteen people were injured this morning after a taxi rolled on the N12 in Alberton.

ER24 paramedics from the Johannesburg South branch arrived on scene and found the taxi lying on its roof near the fast lane. The occupants of the taxi were all walking around on scene.

On inspection, paramedics found that 16 people had sustained minor to moderate injuries in the collision. Fortunately no-one sustained any serious injury.

Metro services closed off one lane of the highway to allow paramedics to work safely.

Paramedics treated the patients for their injuries and thereafter transported them to nearby hospitals for further observations.

The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
