Glenvista woman comes out tops at Meat World competition
A Glenvista resident did exactly that at a Meat World in the south when she won herself a brand new car
OAKDENE – Excitement was thick in the air at the Meat World ‘Win A Car’ final competition day at Comaro Crossing on February 28.
All ten contenders for the hot new Mitsubishi Mirage came armed with hope to find out who would win the vehicle.
One of the owners of Meat World, Jorge Martins, proceeded to put small black boxes on top of the prize, nine containing a beautiful Meat World key holder and only one with the keys to the car. Each of the ten participants rushed to take a box and waited for the instruction by Jorge Martins to open the box.
After the command was given, all the boxes were opened but no one jumped for joy. Martins had to ask who had found a key to the car in their box, and when no one came forward, Martins checked each box only to find the key in one of the boxes.
Glenvista resident Denise Westerveld was the lucky winner of the car and when Jorge Martins inspected her box and found the key, the shock and excitement was so evident on her face that the people around her started clapping.
“I’m so excited, I can’t even tell you. I have granddaughters and I’m sure they are going to love the car,” said Denise.
Martins laughed and said: “I’m glad it all worked out, for a moment there I thought we had ten people and no winners.”
Her husband, John Westerveld, who was with her, was also excited and looked as though he couldn’t believe his wife was the winner. He told the CHRONICLE reporter that he was so excited by the win that he was shaking.
