Hope for the future for St Mary’s
Companies are encouraged to get involved, show you care and support St Mary’s Children’s Home.
JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Matrix Warehouse Group and The Mad Platter’s CEO made a pact last November to assist St Mary’s Children’s Home in every way he and his companies could.
The COURIER spoke to Matrix’s Jo-Ann Els (financial director) and Cornelia Tilli (operations director) about their passion and dedication in making the impossible possible, in keeping the children’s home afloat.
“Last November we were asked if The Mad Platter would be able to host a dinner for the children and staff, and we jumped at the opportunity to make a difference in their lives. It was a wonderful opportunity for us to meet everyone. Since then we have become involved on a monthly basis giving a monetary donation to assist them, with our staff also on board.

“Offering ongoing assistance is a priority for us, and seeing St Mary’s needs, we are hosting a fundraising event at The Mad Platter, Food for Food, on Tuesday March 17 from 18:00.
“Each person who comes along on that evening will eat for free, drinks for their own expense. In exchange for a free meal we are asking each person to bring tinned food, to the amount of R50 or more. With winter approaching, we want to have the kitchen cupboards at St Mary’s fully stocked for the coming months,” said Jo-Ann and Cornelia.
Ideas for food donations: Tinned vegetables (peas, beans, tomatoes), tuna, meat, fruit, jam, etc, as well as Milo, coffee, teabags, bottled or boxed fruit juice, boxed milk, custard, pasta.
“We are encouraging other companies to please get involved, show you care and support St Mary’s Children’s Home. Our motto, ‘There’s no small amount, every rand helps’”, they concluded.
