Safety assured: The robbery incident of a businessman who had withdrawn over R200 000 at Southgate Mall and was robbed by uniformed officers

“This incident happened outside the territories of Southgate Mall, which made is almost impossible for us to protect the victim when not within the premises of the centre. Southgate Mall always and does ensure possible maximum security and protection to all customers within the premises of the mall, however we have limited or no control over criminal activities against our customers happening far from the mall.
“It is unfortunate that the victim was lured by individuals who posed as loyal servants of the public and ultimately robbed, which then makes us believe this whole incident was an orchestrated exercise. We advise all our customers, especially large bulk transaction customers, to be extra cautious and more vigilant as they could be the targets,” the statement concluded.
