Clean-up of stand in Bassonia
Bassonia Community Forum members, fed up of asking for a stand to be cleaned-up on the corner of Soetdoring Avenue and Comaro Street, Bassonia, decided to take the matter into their own hands and hired Morné van der Merwe from Bakos Investments to come on board and assist with the cleaning-up.
BASSONIA – “Residents and business owners in the area were concerned about criminal elements and vagrants living on the stand and between ourselves, Engen Service Station, Villa Della Body Corporate and The Bassonian Body Corporate, we tackled the issue,” said Deon Pillay (chairman Bassonia Commuity Forum).
“We’d like to thank all of the above for the donations towards this initiative and Mitesh Suamber and Deon Swanepoel for their time and effort in supervising this initiative. During the clean-up we found a number of make shift shacks, this is evidence that vagrants were living in the veld. This was a costly exercise and as we get more funds we will continue to clean up the veld,” Pillay added.
