Liefde en Vrede – Cable thieves hit again in the south when they dug up a trench 35 meters long on Klipview Road, Liefde en Vrede and made off with copper cable on May 20.
Glenvista CPF’s, Bruce Lennox commented to the CHRONICLE, “A guy dug a trench about 35 meters long and they stole a part of cable which City Power restored yesterday.”
City Power officials restored the cable stolen by thieves the trench which leads to a substation on May 21.
A mere four days prior, copper cable with an estimated value of R500 000 was stolen in Kibler Park on May 17. JMPD officers managed to apprehend a 25-year-old suspect who was detained at Mondeor SAPS.
Two of his accomplices who were in a separate vehicle managed to escape and the copper cable was seized by officers.
