More headache for Pikitup MD

She was detained in Hillbrow Police Station.

PIKITUP MD Amanda Nair was reportedly arrested yesterday (June 3) in Southdale Depot for alleged theft of official cellphones.

She was detained in Hillbrow Police Station.

Before this arrest, Ms Nair was suspended and formerly charged, in summary, on matters relating to supply chain management and the Municipal Finance Management Act. She was placed on suspension for nearly a year on full pay last February 2014, after Pikitup’s then board of directors decided to take disciplinary action against Nair for her alleged role in awarding a tender worth R263 million to a company that was implicated in a tender fraud.

However  she was cleared of all allegations and would resumed duty on Thursday February 12 this year.

The COURIER contacted Pikitup’s Pansy Jali and was referred to Jacky Mashapu for comment, email was sent to her and her phone rang unanswered. COURIER will follow up this.
