JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Various institutional heads and other senior officials of the Sivananda Fellowship of South Africa are finalising preparations for their three day youth convention being held as part of the centenary celebrations of Sri Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj.
The fellowship consists of Sannyas disciples of Divine Life Society of Rishikesh, Northern India, representing various DLS Branches in South Africa. The youth convention focuses on religious, cultural and spiritual values with special emphasis on meditation, stress-management and character development.
Sri Swami Vidyananda of Sri Ananda Kutir Ashrama and programme co-ordinator for the event said: “The youth component of any land is an extremely vital part of society and it is therefore imperative that the centenary celebrations of Sri Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj places special emphasis on youth development from all linguistic and cultural backgrounds regardless of caste, creed and colour. As the Sivananda Fellowship of SA, we feel privileged that we can offer something substantial to all the youth of our country through the medium of this convention. We hope and pray that they will take maximum advantage of this most wonderful and blessed opportunity.”
The Sri Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj Centenary Youth Convention, which takes place from the June 27 to June 29, at the Sarva Dharma Ashrama in Welbedacht, KZN, will cover a wide range of stimulating topics related to boredom, stress management, memory and concentration, value of yoga and meditation in student life, sports and games, as well as a repertoire of other useful topics pertaining to youth problems, issues and challenges.
The convention will only be catering for a limited number of male and female youths, between the ages of 12 and 25, on a first come first serve basis, so it is extremely important to make the necessary reservations by Friday, June 19.
