JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – On July 17 the two men accused of robbing and kidnapping a man and a woman in March 2015 were found guilty and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment by the Johannesburg Magistrate Court.
The victims were walking in The Hill, on March 1, when two suspects alighted from a vehicle, pointed a firearm at the man and woman and forced the pair to get into the back of the vehicle.
The men then drove off to an unknown house in Rosettenville where they kept the man and woman hostage.
The suspects started drinking alcohol and smoking drugs and later sent one of the hostages to buy more beers and drugs.
Booysens SAPS reported that the suspects asked for the bank card pin from the male hostage and used it to withdraw money while they continued to drink alcohol and smoke. They released the female hostage around 14:00 and the male hostage at 16:00 on March 1.
Solid police work led to the arrest and conviction of the suspects.
Management from the Booysens Police Station applauded Sgt Kenedy Nefuranyele for his finely executed investigation and thanked all their members for their dedication and hard work which led to the successful conviction of the two men.
