Police warn public about car thefts
Booysens SAPS warn of robbers targeting motorists who have conversations in their vehicles.

BOOYSENS SAPS are once again warning the community of a rise in robberies targeting motorists who park their vehicles outside premises to have conversations.
Communications Officer, WO Lorraine van Emmerik, informed the Southern COURIER that this method of robbing people has once again resurfaced, although Booysens SAPS management previously warned of this criminal trend.
“This method of robberies is taking place late at night and it is normally two to three males who approach your vehicle, instruct you to get out and then flee in your vehicle. Please do not sit in your car. Rather go into the premises and chat over a cup of tea instead of sitting in your car,” she advised.
On Monday, July 18, around 21:00, another motorist was sitting in his vehicle with his wife and they were approached by three men who held them at gunpoint and instructed them to lie on the ground, just before fleeing the scene in their vehicle.
