Constable catches thieves in the act

Two male suspects loading property from a furniture store at 01:00 were caught red-handed by an officer on standby.

MOFFATVIEW SAPS’ Cst Billy Letsoalo reacted to a business break-in and theft call while on standby.

The constable’s swift response led to the arrest of two men at 01:00 on Monday, July 18.

Letsoalo contacted the crime prevention unit for backup and together they found two suspects busy loading property into their bakkie, with a fridge and chairs already loaded.

Upon inspection, the officers found a metal sheet removed from the wall of the furniture warehouse and the corrugated roof opened to allow the thieves to take out furniture.

The two suspects have been charged with business break-in and theft and were due to appear in court.
