Cooking up a storm

Her wonderful sense of humour and extraordinary cooking skills had the audience enthralled as she cooked up a storm, which they then had chance to taste.

WOMEN’S Day at The Glen Shopping Centre, on Tuesday, August 9, was enjoyed by audiences of both men and women.

Celebrated South African cook, food writer and TV show host, Sarah Graham, cooked and shared some of her delectable recipes.

“It’s great to be here and thanks for having me,” said Sarah, as she joked about whether she could actually turn on the hob!

Her wonderful sense of humour and extraordinary skills had the audience enthralled as she cooked up a storm, which they then had chance to taste.

Her first dish was Pear and Rosemary Tarte Tatin (an upside-down pastry, with pears caramelised in butter and sugar before the tart is baked). An added twist to the recipe was her inclusion of rosemary cooked with the pears.

She made a white chocolate ganache which she drizzled over the baked tart, and it was served with vanilla ice-cream. Yummy!

Next she made phyllo pastry parcels filled with Camembert cheese and sticky fig jam. To die for!

Sarah – pardon the pun – had her audience eating from her hands and the two sessions went down an absolute treat. She also signed her latest book, Smitten, for her foodie fans.
