Female officers conduct roadblock

All female officers roadblock in the South of Johannesburg.

WOMEN of the law had the South in slow motion in Bellavista during a roadblock by policewomen from JMPD and SAPS on Kliprivier Road on Friday, August 12.

The roadblock was meant to serve, protect and inspire young women during Women’s Month and remind all women that one does not need to be a man to be an officer of the law.

Vehicles were stopped and searched for illegal possessions, to verify that the drivers hold valid licenses, to search for stolen goods and to check that the vehicles were not stolen or hijacked.

“There are a lot of units here taking part in this initiative to help prevent crime and search for drugs and also check if the motorists are the legal owners of the vehicles.”

“As you can see, we are even stopping trucks and buses to ensure we do proper checks while we also inspire younger woman to love this field of the law,” said JMPD regional commander, Faith Lengwati and SAPS major general, Anna Mateisi.

It was impressive to see women of the law commanding respect from all motorists and ensuring that things went smoothly. All motorists complied patiently with the roadblock.

JMPD spokesperson chief superintendent, Wayne Minnaar, invited the media to witness the impressive bravery of women who are officers of the law and leading officers.

Mateisi informed the COURIER that they decided to bring the roadblock to Kliprivier Road in Bellavista because the neighbourhood is a crime hot spot.
