UPDATE: Police give statement to terrorised elderly couple

Vispol Commander Colonel Wiseman Sithole, personally visited the family and spoke to the couple.

Moffatview police statement:

After communicating the family’s plight with Moffatview communications officer, Rebecca Bila, Johan Tromp informed the COURIER on Thursday, September 29, that an appointment was made by the police for an officer to visit the family once Charmaine was available.

Vispol Commander Colonel Wiseman Sithole, personally visited the family and spoke to the couple. The officer was unfortunately unable to get the name of the officer who did not assist the couple.

“I gave the family my personal contact details to contact me should something like this happen again. I also addressed the officers at the station and emphasised that officers need to assist the people, especially the elderly.

“Right now (Friday, September 30), we are having a parade to engage the community to inform us how we can better serve them. We are also listening to the people talk about crimes that are affecting them here in our policing area and we are also learning of the mistakes that the police are making so we can can rectify them and continue offering better policing,” said Sithole.
