Southerners witness the crowning of Miss Gay

Club 152 in Hey Street, Turffontein, crowned its first Miss Gay during a proudly gay event.

SOUTHERNERS flocked to Club 152 in Hey Street, Turffontein, to witness Lyla Khofu being crowned as the club’s Miss Gay on Saturday, October 15.

The club was at full capacity amidst the rain as locals wanted to witness the very entertaining and fun-filled proudly gay event.

Event organiser Sabelo Ngubane said: “The event was a success courtesy of sponsor, Anova Health, thank you for coming on board and for also erecting a gazebo inside the club to provide free giveaways and health information.

“It means the world to have been able to host this kind of event. It has been a long time coming and I am very happy about it. The idea came about as we were socialising with people from the community. It is very important that such an event grows because it can help raise awareness, especially in a community where we as homosexual and bi-sexual people still experience hate crime due to our sexual orientation.”

Bongi Dubazane from Rosettenville was crowned Miss Personality, Bomolinah Seboti from Turffontein was crowned second princess, and Durenchka Marcus from Eden Park was crowned the first princess.

Overall winner Lyla Khofu came all the way to represent Thokoza.
