Good news for residents
This is great news for residents who have in the past just been told to pay up or be cut off when the accounts are incorrect.
A PUBLIC meeting was held to discuss municipal billing problems community members have on Wednesday, November 30.
The meeting was held at Thaba Eco Hotel and was attended by over 150 residents. “Thank you to all those who came to the public meeting to discuss the billing and utilities issues. We had a great turnout,” said Ward 23 Councillor Sarah Wissler.
Two MMCs and several senior officials were present at the meeting and several resolutions were made. “If you have a billing issue you cannot resolve, you need to email it to me and I’ll review it. If I am able to fix it via the normal channels, I will. However, if they cannot fix the problem then it will be sent to the VIP unit at billing, where your account will be flagged and no cut off will happen for 30 days or until it’s resolved,” added Wissler.

According to Wissler, this will be the first of many such public meetings she will endeavour to hold and she said a billing issues day will be held in the ward in January which residents can attend to discuss and resolve their billing issues with senior officials.
