Moffat View SAPS responds to corruption allegations

The public should record the call sign of the police vehicle suspected to be involved in corruption and also record the date and time of the incident.

RESPONSE from Moffat View SAPS spokesperson Constable Mikateko Rebecca Bila:

“Different units are sent to work at the Moffat View Precinct to conduct crime prevention, therefore not all police are corrupt.

“Any alleged corruption by police officials must be reported to the station commander so that this can be handled accordingly, through procedures of the SAPS.

“The public should record the call sign of the police vehicle (the number displayed on the vehicle), suspected to be involved in corruption and also record the date and time of the incident.

“We rely on the public to co-operate with us by being our eyes and ears and by giving us information.

“Evictions are carried out by the sheriff of the court. Police are there to monitor and to see that this is done peacefully.

“All complaints pertaining to evictions must be directed to the sherrif’s office and with regards to hijacked buildings and houses, the department of housing and town planning must be contacted. If complainants are not satisfied, they can contact the cluster Johannesburg office or the SAPS provincial office.

“Operations are being conducted to address drug-related problems and arrests are being made on a daily basis.

“Operations are also being conducted by the social crime prevention unit to attend to the houses where prostitution is taking place.”
