Robbery outside bank at Southdale Shopping Centre

The perpetrators thought the woman’s handbag had money in it.

A WOMAN was robbed of her handbag while queuing outside a bank at the Southdale Shopping Centre on Wednesday morning, March 29.

According to Booysens SAPS, people were queuing to enter the bank.

The perpetrators thought the woman’s handbag had money in it.

One of them cocked a firearm, a bullet fell on the floor and the handbag was taken.

Captain Lorrain van Emmerik from Booysens SAPS confirmed that the incident was not a bank robbery, as people had thought.

“They [the suspects] thought the handbag had a lot of money in it. At this stage no arrests have been made,” she said.
