Pensioner shown support
The elderly woman had shared her ordeal about how the suspect beat her before robbing and raping her with her mouth covered.
MOFFAT View SAPS CPF Sector Three reports the elderly woman who was robbed and raped at the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) building, in Johannesburg, on Monday, March 6, has received donations from the community.
The COURIER front page story in the newspaper dated March 14, ‘Pensioner robbed and raped at SASSA’ appealed for donations of a fridge and a TV, which the pensioner did not have.
Thanks to caring Southerners, such as Travis Ingram, from TrioTech Electrical Plumbing and Maintenance, a new fridge was donated.
Isaac Davis, deputy chairperson of the CPF, said there were also three offers of TVs and the CPF accepted the one which was closest to collect and deliver to the pensioner.
“Although we could not take everything people offered, we want to thank everyone for their help. We truly appreciate it,” said Davis.
The pensioner also received groceries and money, which was used to buy essentials and medicine she struggled to afford.
“The CPF of Moffat View Sector Three also thanks the Southern COURIER for being a voice for our community and allowing us a chance to communicate with the people. We would not have received such help if people did not know about what we were trying to do for the elderly,” concluded Davis, who also thanked SAPS members who helped with donations and assistance.
